Concrete Club, Shoreditch diamond in the rough
Search on Google and you’ll find the same description generic description for this venue, ripped from the venue’s own website. It goes something like: ‘Concrete is a versatile underground multi-function space, located in the heart of vibrant Shoreditch’… doesn’t sound like they’ve been there does it?
But we have!
We’d describe Concrete Space as edgy, underground, no windows, big sound system and yes, plenty of concrete everywhere! It’s one of those venues that does pretty much what it says on the tin, it’s a space where you can experience and explore different kinds of music and it’s raw, just like concrete. It’s almost as if to add anything else to the space would be superfluous to the overall experience – and it works.
Located just a stone throw away from Shoreditch high street, opposite Shoreditch Box Park, and around the corner from Shoreditch House Concrete Space is located right in the heart of…. well Shoreditch!
By day Concrete is a spot you can rock up to at 9am in the morning and actually get work done, which is surprising given the staff have less than 7 hours to turn it around after the night before. Run by the Soho House guys, don’t be surprised to find plenty of creative, arts and entertainment peeps moseying around.
We’d fully recommend you pop down to one of Concrete Space, as it’s one of the most versatile spaces in London, only Archspace and the CFL Arts Cafe in Peckham can compare to the range of music found under one roof here.
